City of Krivoi Rog is located on the territory which is inhabited by the humans since the Stone Age. The first official mention of Krivoi Rog in documents dated by 1775 year. The city's name is associated with the shape of Saksagan River. Krivoi Rog is an important industrial center of Dnipropetrovsk region, the main branches of industry are: ferrous metallurgy, machine building, chemical industry, mining and processing sector. The city is one of the main raw materials source for the metallurgical industry of Ukraine. Two regional TV and Radio Broadcasting Companies, "Krivoi Rog" and TRC "Rudana", operate in Krivoi Rog. The education sector comprises 15 specialized secondary education establishments and 28 colleges.
